La danseuse / The Ballerina is a machine-theatre play, a theatre conceived from the moving object, based on the combination of technique and art. The play develops from a seed, the machine. In the Company’s own words, this is “a powerful aesthetic bid and an exhibition of mechanical beauty, linked to completely free playwright, aiming to touch each viewer’s soul”. With one actress as accomplice, one Dj and a wooden ballerina, symbol of feminine freedom and power, the show invites the audience to join the party and dance alongside them.
About the Company
Antigua i Barbuda was founded in 2002 by Jordà Ferré to develop multidisciplinary projects, related to his experience as an expert in fine and stage arts, especially the theatre.
Research, invention, manipulation, creation, and staging are only some of the many sides of this company’s work, always looking for innovation and the collaboration with professionals from other fields, and companies such as o La Machine, Royal de Luxe, Comediants or La Fura dels Baus, amongst others, as an opportunity to share knowledge, ideas and projects, facilitating the creation of original and surprising new proposals.
