Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria presents in this new production for TEMUDAS Festival a walk by the most popular musicals represented on Manhattan’s world-famous road. The Broadway circuit consists of forty theatres, and have seen the likes of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and many others turn the musical into one of the world’s leading shows.

La noche de Broadway starts with one of the best-known tunes by George Gershwin, Rhapsody in Blue, with Sergio Alonso as guest piano soloist, for the piece that settled the foundations of the genre, the harmonic treatment of the Variety Show.

Conducted by Daniel Abad, the performance will include songs from West Side Story, Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Beauty and The Beast, amongst others.

About the Company
Since 2016, with the Band’s debut in TEMUDAS with the acclaimed We Will Rock You, Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has been present in the Festival every year, in the latest editions with Celebration (2017) and A quién le importa (2018).

Created in 1888, the Band is still a reference in Gran Canaria’s capital town, after 130 years. In the last four years, they have been working in a new repertoire, adapted to different audiences, and to offer a new interactive space between the band members and music lovers, as well as creating bonds with other musical institutions. The Band’s current conductor is Juan Antonio Roda Sapiña.
